Small Groups

We believe that life changes take place in the context of relationship (Community).  We need relationships with God and with others.  Real spiritual growth does not take place in a vacuum.

Our relationships with one another help us in our relationship with God.  In a trusting relationship, honesty, accountability and application of God’s word can and will happen.

At S.C.C we believe that small groups provide us with relationships where we are able to take risks, make choices, grow in self-discipline, be accountable and receive support from others.  Small groups are the best place to lead people to love and serve Jesus Christ.

To meet people’s interest and schedules we offer a range of options; morning Bible Studies, mid-week book and Bible studies, prayer meetings, Saturday & Sunday evening studies etc; all interspersed with socializing and service components.

Affinity Groups

(affinity ‘kinship, relationship, attractive force’)

Affinity Groups at S.C.C. build community by linking people with common interests and provide excellent bridges to people form the community. These  could include outdoor activities such as walking, biking,  hiking & gardening as well as dinner clubs and scrapbooking groups.

Alpha

"What is the meaning of life?"
"Why am I here on earth?"
"What is going to happen when I die?"
"Does God exist?"
"What relevance does Jesus have in my life today?"

If you find yourself looking for answers to questions like these, or if you are wondering what the Christian faith is all about, then the Alpha course is for you.

Alpha is a 13 week course for anyone interested in investigating the basics of Christianity. The course is relaxed and informal, and always involves great food! Each week there is the opportunity for small group discussion after watching an entertaining and informative video.

So bring those questions you have always been afraid to ask, your appetite and a friend…and join us for the next Alpha course!

Contact Sardis Community Church to see when Alpha is being offered.

The J.O.Y Group (Just Older Youth)

We seniors, also known as “The Joy Group” (Just Older Youth) at Sardis Community Church, meet every week on Thursday at 1:30 in the fireside room.  On the 2nd Thursday of the month, we meet at 8:30 in the morning for breakfast.  We are sometimes joined by a special speaker.

During the summer months, we have outside activities such as corn roasts, barbecues, and a day at Tappins Putting Course.

Sardis DoorWay is a program that meets once a week, on Wednesday mornings, at Sardis Community Church. Over 75 volunteers work together to support single mothers and their preschool children as an expression of God’s love. Luke 10:27 reads “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” As volunteers, try to uphold this commandment each Wednesday morning.

Are you looking for a way to serve in your community?  Do you love food and would like to serve a hot, nutritious meal? Do you love children and would like to serve 3 hours a week? Do you have a listening ear and would like to reach out to single mothers in our community?

DoorWay would love to have you volunteer. One day a week 3 hours is all it takes to make a difference in a families life.

For more information, to volunteer, or to donate to our program, please give Denise Einer our Program Coordinator a call at 604-819-6556
