Bob Friesen will joining  us as our Transitional Pastor beginning September 1,  2008.  Bob will be providing support and leadership in midst of loss and change, giving counsel and applying wisdom to the process of finding new long term lead pastoral leadership at SCC, and supporting the ongoing ministry of SCC by exercising pastoral leadership in key ministry areas of SCC.  Bob and Joy are excited and looking forward to beginning their work among us.

Bob Friesen was born in Chilliwack.  His father died when he was young so he was raised by his mom with strong support from the church. He moved to Abbotsford when he was 17, went to MEI and then SFU to become a mathematics teacher. Bob is married to Joy and they have two adult children.  He taught high school math in B.C. and also did a two year teaching assignment in Nigeria.  He went to  Fresno M.B. seminary in California with his young family and came back to B.C. to become associate pastor at Bakerview M.B. in Abbotsford.  At 35 years of age Bob was asked to go to Broadway M.B. in Chilliwack and served there as senior pastor for 20 years till 2001. He saw the church grow form an older congregation with few children to the vibrant multigenerational congregation it is today. During this time he was active in the B.C. M.B. conference as moderator for 9 years. After completing his service at Broadway he served as interim pastor at Arnold M.B. during a difficult time for that church and then took on a full time staff position with B.C. conference serving in the area of church health.  He is completing his work at the B.C. M.B. conference at the end of June and is available to begin serving SCC in a transitional pastoral role near the beginning of September. Bob is a strong teacher/preacher who concentrates on expository preaching.  He also has good organizational skills and is a wise and thoughtful team leader. His life and ministry demonstrates a love for God, for the church and for people.
